Cooper Rocks Greenwood’s Artwalk

Last night’s opening of Cooper’s photography at Urban Light Studios was a great sucess!

We had so much fun meeting people from all over the city. The gallery owners estimated that we had around 400 people view the exhibit during the three hour opening celebration. We handed out all 72 of our delicious vegan cupcakes (chocolate Grand Marnier, Coopers favorite!) within the first hour and went through 20 bottles of wine. Oh la la! Michael and I met so many wonderful people – some who’d been following Cooper’s adventures via Flickr and this blog, some who’d just read about him in the Friday P-I article, and folks who just happened into the gallery and said, “wait, these photos were taken by a CAT!?”

If you couldn’t make it to the gallery last night, the show will be up through March 10th. If you’re interested in purchasing one of Cooper’s photos for your home and you live too far away, you can do so at the Urban Light Studios site. The site has more photos available for purchase than were on display in the gallery.

Just as you entered the Greenwood Collective’s art space, where Urban Light Studios is located, they had a huge screen playing a video with Cooper running and jumping with his Cat-Cam. (Photo of the screen from Silenced Majority Portal) See the video here.

One of the highlights of the evening was getting to meet Chloe (I think that was her name!) one of Cooper’s feline fans! She came with her humans to see Cooper’s photos and hoped to meet him, but he was home asleep in his bed. We also met several dogs and lots of sweet kids. Most of them liked the picture of Cooper’s girlfriend the best, which we titled “Rendezvous”.

We met another wonderful fan of Cooper’s work who brought him a catnip cigar, which we gave him as soon as we got home last night. And our friend Jeannie brought him treats and toys. He went to sleep a very happy kitty.

Cooper would like to thank Kevin and Julie Law for envisioning that a common orange house cat deserved a gallery show and pulling it all together so beautifully. And he sends purrs and kitty kisses to all of his fans. Especially those who bought his artwork last night! Thank you so much for your support. Meow, baby!

    Cooper,

Really like your work. Sorry we couldn’t come to your show the other night. Mom wants to know what kind of camera you take your pictures with.

    Cheers!

Hi Charles, thanks for your comment. We always credit Mr. Lee with the invention of the cat cam, especially when talking with the press. Cooper is one of the featured artists on his site, and we’re big fans of Mr. Lee’s work. We also have links to his site on our Flickr and scattered throughout this blog. But here’s the link in case anyone wants their own Cat Cam: http://www.mr-lee-catcam.de/

Will you be giving credit to Juergen Perthold (and his cat, Mr. Lee) for providing the inspiration of the CatCam to Cooper’s owners?
