Cooper Rocks Greenwood’s Artwalk

Last night’s opening of Cooper’s photography at Urban Light Studios was a great sucess!

We had so much fun meeting people from all over the city. The gallery owners estimated that we had around 400 people view the exhibit during the three hour opening celebration. We handed out all 72 of our delicious vegan cupcakes (chocolate Grand Marnier, Coopers favorite!) within the first hour and went through 20 bottles of wine. Oh la la! Michael and I met so many wonderful people – some who’d been following Cooper’s adventures via Flickr and this blog, some who’d just read about him in the Friday P-I article, and folks who just happened into the gallery and said, “wait, these photos were taken by a CAT!?”

If you couldn’t make it to the gallery last night, the show will be up through March 10th. If you’re interested in purchasing one of Cooper’s photos for your home and you live too far away, you can do so at the Urban Light Studios site. The site has more photos available for purchase than were on display in the gallery.

Just as you entered the Greenwood Collective’s art space, where Urban Light Studios is located, they had a huge screen playing a video with Cooper running and jumping with his Cat-Cam. (Photo of the screen from Silenced Majority Portal) See the video here.

One of the highlights of the evening was getting to meet Chloe (I think that was her name!) one of Cooper’s feline fans! She came with her humans to see Cooper’s photos and hoped to meet him, but he was home asleep in his bed. We also met several dogs and lots of sweet kids. Most of them liked the picture of Cooper’s girlfriend the best, which we titled “Rendezvous”.

We met another wonderful fan of Cooper’s work who brought him a catnip cigar, which we gave him as soon as we got home last night. And our friend Jeannie brought him treats and toys. He went to sleep a very happy kitty.

Cooper would like to thank Kevin and Julie Law for envisioning that a common orange house cat deserved a gallery show and pulling it all together so beautifully. And he sends purrs and kitty kisses to all of his fans. Especially those who bought his artwork last night! Thank you so much for your support. Meow, baby!

Cooper’s Show Opens TONIGHT!

We are so excited and proud of our little Cooper the cat photographer. He did such a tremendous job at the sneak preview on Wednesday that he’s sold his first photo and the show hasn’t officially opened yet! And we are looking forward to meeting his fans and neighbors at the Urban Lights Studios this evening.

Cooper’s Gallery Preview

Today Cooper visited Urban Light Studios for a press preview of his gallery exhibit. We were nervous he would be uncomfortable with all the reporters and their flashbulbs, but Cooper did great! He sat there like a pro, seemingly proud of the framed photos hanging behind him.

Cooper meets the press

Tomorrow morning Cooper and Michael will be interviewed on local country music station KMPS 94.1. The interview is supposed to be on at 8:40 am. You can follow the link to listen to it live. Michael is sure to give a fun interview to the “Waking Crew”, but we expect very little from Cooper – he’s not much of a radio personality.

Big week for Cooper

All this week, Michael and I will be preparing Cooper for his big gallery opening on Friday, February 13th. The show is happening at Urban Light Studios in Seattle’s Greenwood neighborhood. The prints turned out incredible. They’re gorgeous 16 x 20 inch prints archival matted and framed. The opening night event runs from 6 to 9pm and the show is scheduled to be on display through February. A portion of the proceeds of the show will be donated to PAWS Cat City Rescue. If you come to the opening you’ll get to meet Michael and myself plus there might be cupcakes.

Cooper: Day in the Life Video

Many have asked us what Cooper does on a typical day, how he spends his time. Easier than explaining it, I thought I would show you.

Cooper’s Gallery Exhibit to Benefit PAWS

A portion of all proceeds will benefit PAWS Cat City Adoption Center.

Supporting Cooper’s photos will mean more cats will be microchipped, spayed and neutered. It’s a small way for Cooper to give back to the community.

The gallery exhibit details are as follows:
DATE: Friday, February 13, 2009
TIME: 6:00PM to 9:00PM
LOCATION: Urban Light Studios at The Greenwood Collective
ADDRESS: 8537 Greenwood Ave, Seattle, WA

This date coincides with Greenwood-Phinney’s monthly ArtWalk. Please join us in celebrating the beautiful photos our cat has taken during this unique project – and for a great cause to boot!
